So you want to start a side-hustle?
Yas, get it girl!
We have known many women that have side hustles whilst having full time or part-time work and it works well for them. Have you been contemplating it for a while? Awesome, so where do you start?!
Well, first things first. Spend time after hours researching and developing what you want to do. The last thing you may want to do after hours is more work, but hey it’s worth it in the end.
It’s a great way to start a business whilst you are working as then, you will understand if you are fully committed to branching off into your own business because there will be long nights and lonely weekends!
Start SMALL. Don’t invest too much money before you understand if your business model is something people want or need.
Build a social media presence (which reminds me, have you liked our page?)
Share your services with people online – remember you are ALLOWED to have more than one passion AND purpose in life. Sometimes you are working just to pay the bills when you know you’re really capable of doing something LARGER with life.
Don’t shy away from talking about it with colleagues and friends. Surround yourself with a network of positive and inspiring people – they can be found online or at networking events.
Draw up a business plan. So as we ALL know, life and business rarely go according to plan but it’s great to have structure! Work out the financial outgoings with your business and the risk vs reward. This will allow you to weigh up if starting a side hustle is really for you.
Don’t be afraid of sharing with the world your business and work life, whether this is on linked in and facebook. If your boss questions it well… maybe it’s the wrong place for you to be working? Do you really want to work for someone who doesn’t think out side of the box?
And so, the beauty of juggling a side business whilst working:
1. The money that you make from work can go into the business and you really don’t lose out.
2. If the business is a flop well then, you STILL have a salary to fall back on!
3. Your customers may just be inside that building you work in!
4. Having a job that you hate will make you work all that harder to succeed – ain’t that the truth honey.
Good luck and of course if you need any more help, reach out and register for my coaching on the candidate services page!
